sheets and salt shakers

…are on my mind today. first the more practical: a new set of sheets for the new apartment. i recently got an amazing new mattress, but unfortunately none of the sheets i own seem to fit properly because it is a “deep” mattress. so i set about looking for “extra deep full sheets” and learned that extra deep sheets in general, and full size ones in particular, are hard to find. the options were limited pale sheet colors in shades like cappuccino, sage and rose. some how, i stumbled upon these beautiful leafy green ones from crate and barrel that despite not being labeled “extra deep” seem large enough to accommodate my extra deep mattress (someone even complained they were “too loose” in the reviews!!) i’d love to add these lovelies from garnet hill:

now on to the more absurd… i’ve been in search for the perfect set of salt and pepper shakers. at first i was sure i wanted these ones by jonathan adler

but i went to the jonathan adler store on atlantic ave, and somehow couldn’t bring myself to spend the $48 on what felt like really fragile ceramic that felt like it could break somewhat easily. later that evening, i found some of the most amazing antique salt and pepper shakers made out of opaque colored glass. they ranged in $48 and up, a piece, but they were SO incredibly beautiful. i’ve become obsessed with the idea of finding the perfect shakers.

a little interneting informed me that the shakers were victorian in era and refered to as “milk glass” (the same as the lamp i ordered). here are some that i’ve fallen in love with, though the prices are outrageous

i may have to settle on the less ridiculously priced

or another style all together…

most of you will think me crazy for even thinking longer than a minute about salt and pepper shakers at all.
